Parks/Trails
Forest Lake is home to over 1,000 acres of parkland which can be found in its 23 parks and 18 open spaces. The Hardwood Creek Regional Trail runs through the city and offer residents and visitors a great way to see the community. There are a variety of playgrounds and ball fields including newly renovated pickle ball courts in the city as well. A full listing of parks can be found in the city’s park directory link below.
Daniel A. Deponti Airport
The Daniel A. Deponti Airport is operated by the City of Forest Lake and features a 2700 foot paved runway. The airport also features 31 privately owned hangars and 24 hour self service 100LL fuel payable by credit card.
Forest Lake YMCA
The YMCA Forest Lake in Forest Lake opened in 2015 and offers group fitness classes—including yoga, Pilates, and water aerobics. The Forest Lake YMCA is located next to the Washington County Service Center/Library in the Headwaters development. Residents of the City of Forest Lake receive special benefits at the Forest Lake YMCA based on the agreement the City of Forest Lake has with the YMCA. Those benefits include access to the gymnasium and splash pad during specific hours, usage of the community room, and 6 yearly guest passes to the facility.
Natural Resources
The natural resources that surround the City of Forest Lake are one of the city’s most beloved amenities. The area is home to numerous lakes including Forest Lake, Clear Lake, Shields Lake and Lake Keewahtin. These lakes offer boating, fishing, swimming and other recreational activities. In the winter time the area is home to miles of well groomed snowmobile and cross country ski trails. Additionally, Forest Lake is located minutes from the Saint Croix scenic waterway which offers over 200 miles of river way to explore.
Castlewood Golf Course
Conveniently located right off Highway 97 in Forest Lake, Castlewood Golf Course has welcomed golfers of all ages, abilities and interest since 1920. “The Rock” has been an affordable course with quality conditions for juniors, families and competitive golfers alike for over 85 years. As a 9 Hole Championship golf course, Castlewood offers both recreational and competitive leagues for men, women, seniors and juniors along with tournaments and group outings.
